The first documented account of Tyra was in 1641. One myth says that the origin of Tyra comes from the Czech word “tyrannized people” (tyřané), which were escaped serfs, seeking refuge in the dense forests of the Beskydy from their lords “Oldřich” in Oldřichovice village. These people built their houses first in forests and later nearer and nearer to the river Tyrka. Currently half of the village population is polish descending with a Czech nationality, still preserving their own language, traditions, way of life and heritage. This group is already organised in a NPO, but cooperation seem to be difficult, because the polish speaking people still live an own cultural life apart from the Czech cultural one. There is no apparent hostile behaviour or a pushed integration, but if the NPO-Tyra should speak in one voice for all dwellers there should be a consolidation between the groups. Maybe one will lead from cooperation to a consolidation and the other way around.
